John Dixon made his ABT debut a successful one as he defeated Eric Peterson 214-181 to win his first ABT title. In match one of the stepladder finals Eric Peterson defeated James Piwko 252-243 to advance to the title match against top seed John Dixon. John had a 13-pin handicap advantage to start the match but Eric cut it down to just 4 pins after 3 frames. Eric then left a 4-6-7 split in the 4th frame and John doubled in the 4th and 5th frames to rebuild his lead to 26 pins. Eric doubled in the 6th and 7th frames to cut into the lead but opened again in the 9th while John stayed clean the rest of the way for the 214-181 victory. Champion’s Profile: John Dixon is 42 years old and employed as a tractor trailer driver for Aim Dedicated Logistics. He is married to Vicky and has 3 children, Katee, Joe and Amanda ages 15, 14 and 11. John is a first year bowler and currently bowls leagues at Voelkers and Kenmore Lanes. He has a high game of 240 and a 636 high series to his credit. John was using a Track Rising drilled by Brian Ruszala at Big Daddy’s Pro Shop inside Kenmore Lanes. John credits Brian’s drilling and lessons from Sean Parry as having helped him to improve his game. He thanked them for their help, his wife Vicky for her support and the ABT and AMF Lancaster for having the tournament. John said his winnings would be used for more ABT events and that he prefers the separate division events. CONGRATULATIONS John!Tournament Notes: In addition to winning his first title this week John Dixon also won a Tropical Storm ball by posting the high series on the 11:00am squad. Nice bowling John.
