*** Foley First at Mil-Sher ***

Tom Foley won his first ABT title by defeating Eric Laschinger 249-210 at AMF Mil-Sher Lanes. In match one of the stepladder finals Tom Foley defeated Jason Paolella 282-250 to advance to the title match against top seed Eric Laschinger. In the championship match Eric left splits in 3 of the first 5 frames allowing Tom to build a commanding 49-pin lead. Eric finished strong in the second half of the match but Tom answered his challenge as he went on to win by the final score of 249-210.

Champion’s Profile: Tom Foley is 42 years old and employed in sales for Home Depot. He is married to Lynn Casarsa and they have two children, Patrick and Ryan, ages 16 and 12. Tom has been bowling since age 7 and currently bowls league at Kenmore Lanes. His high game is 300 and he has a 795 high series to his credit. Tom was using a Columbia Wicked drilled by Brian Ruszala at Big Daddy’s Pro Shop inside Kenmore Lanes. Tom credits Brian as having helped him with his game especially in equipment choices. He thanked the ABT and AMF Mil-Sher for having the tournament. His winnings will be used for a family cruise in February. Tom said the shot held up great this week and that he prefers the stepladder finals to the match play we were using before.

CONGRATULATIONS Tom!

Tournament Notes: The format change this week accomplished exactly what we hoped it would. There were more bowlers on each squad so more advanced from each squad giving all participants a better opportunity to cash. It also resulted in better sidepots and brackets meaning more chances to win more money. We are looking forward to seeing how things progress from here. Just one reminder, I heard some bowlers questioning why we didn’t change lanes after the first match. In stepladder finals all matches are conducted on the same pair. We do not move around.
