Ike Layton Jr. earned his “black shirt” by winning his second ABT title with a 236-175 victory over George Spencer at AMF Lancaster Lanes. In round 1 of the match play finals Ike Layton Jr. defeated Robert Norgren 224-213 and George Spencer defeated Steve Terranova 237-230. In the championship match Ike Layton Jr. struck in 6 of the first 7 frames to cruise past George Spencer 236-175. Champion’s Profile: Ike Layton Jr. is 46 years old and employed as a tractor trailer driver for Conway Freight. He is married to Julie and they have a 13-year-old daughter named Megan. Ike has been bowling since age 5 and currently bowls leagues at AMF Airport and Manor Lanes. He has a high game of 299 and a 745 high series to his credit. Ike was using an Ebonite One drilled by Jim Reese at AMF Lancaster Lanes. He credits John Bolognese and Dave Lucas as having helped him to improve his game. Ike thanked Julie, Megan and John for their support, the ABT for running the tournament and AMF Lancaster Lanes for hosting the event. Ike said the shot was tough this week and that you had to be consistent to score well.
