Back (L to R):
William Fecher, 1st; James Piwko, 2nd |
|
William Fecher won his first ABT title by defeating James Piwko 160-154 at AMF Allie Brandt Lanes. Greg Wells opened the stepladder finals by defeating Richard Thering 238-150. Fabrizio Raimondi then eliminated Greg Wells 173-161 before falling to James Piwko 213-201. The championship match was close with both bowlers struggling as the shot broke down. Needing a mark in the 10th James left the 1-2-4-7 and just missed it on the left making William the winner by the final score of 160-154. Champion’s Profile: William Fecher is 25 years old and self-employed as an electrician. He has been bowling for 5 years and currently bowls league at Clarence Bowling Academy. His personal bests for game and series are 299 and 714 both shot in this week’s semifinals. William was using a Columbia Icon II drilled by Bruce Heim at the National Bowling Store in North Tonawanda. He credits his dad as having helped him to improve his game. William thanked his dad for his help and for sponsoring him in the tournament. His winnings will be used for the USBC Nationals in Reno. William said that the ABT is a well-run fun tournament. CONGRATULATIONS William!
